Fall 2012 Semester Comes to and End

It seems like yesterday that I got off the train and stepped foot in downtown Guelph as a third year student. It's really hard to believe that in just a few weeks, I will be half way through third year! One semester closer to applying to veterinary school! I can't believe this semester has gone by so fast.

This month brings with it a great deal of sadness into my life as my dog passed away on November 4th, 2012 from Renal Failure. It was expected but you never are ready to let them go. He died peacefully at home on the deck after having lunch. I'm bringing his ashes back to Guelph after I return from Christmas break.

My first finals will be my hardest, mammalian physiology and  cellular biology both (pre-reqs) for veterinary school. There are so many little details to engrave into my memory! I'm sure vet students have mastered that skill.

This month I gave a few tours to prospective students at the University of Guelph. It's nice to see how happy they are and to think I was one of them just a few short years ago. A few students were interested in becoming veterinarians and I got to chat with one of them after the tour and her family. I shared my experiences and gave her the best advice I could on university and preparing for vet school. I really enjoyed it.

I just cannot wait for Christmas break! I need a few weeks to relax and get some pet therapy at home.

Welcome to my blog!

Just thought it would be a good idea to share my experiences with current and future undergraduate students hoping to pursue veterinary medicine in the near future. For me it was a decision I made when I was very young. Four years old to be in exact and I have been chasing that dream ever since! It hasn't been easy and there were a lot of barriers I had to overcome but there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Time flies, especially in university and you want to make the most of it! Enjoy every minute of it. I'm reaching the end of my undergraduate degree and I'm happy but also worried that I might not make it into the Ontario Veterinary College but I want to say that I tried. I'm experiencing a weird mix of emotions right now.

I am a third year at the University of Guelph and I hope to graduate in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science Honours Degree in Biological Sciences and Neuroscience.

This semester I am taking some interesting classes and I chose my courses for next semester this morning.

This semester I am taking:
